Activities of daily living such as family budgeting and money management, communicating effectively with the children’s school, taking care of family health and wellbeing, and looking ahead to prevent potential problems with transportation or childcare are all more difficult when a person has not been taught by their family, or when they are living in poverty. TeamWork NorthWest recognizes the kind of education and training its participants need in order to be successful in retaining employment. An individualized plan is developed to assist each person with the help they need, and can include topics such as those in the list below.

Depending upon individual needs, employees will be trained in the following ways:
  • Personal budgeting and financial management

  • Communication skills

  • Basic life skills including work ethic, personal management, responsibility, and problem solving

  • Effective parenting

  • Personal appearance makeovers

  • Job search skills

  • Child care issues

  • Balancing work and family

  • Customer service

  • Reading, writing, math, and other basic workplace skills

  • Job Specific Skills

  • Others as needs are identified
