TeamWork Model: How Does it Work?

Click here to view full size picture
TeamWork NorthWest partners with local businesses to provide the comprehensive intervention required to remove barriers to job retention. A Retention Specialist maintains a regularly scheduled presence at the employment site. A supervisor at the business refers employees who are prone to retention problems. The Retention Specialist meets with the employee and spends quality, one-on-one time with that individual. This allows the Retention Specialist to identify areas where the person may need assistance in order to prevent problems from occurring. The Retention Specialist continues a relationship with that employee for at least one year in order to fully support his or her efforts at long-term self-sufficiency.

  • Retention Specialist maintains regular schedule at the employment site

  • One-on-one attention for both the employee and supervisor

  • Proactive intervention to prevent problems from occurring

  • Preparation in advance of job placement and “reality check” counseling to support success on the job

  • Long-term relationship (at least a year), with a step-down approach individualized to each employee’s needs

  • Aggressive barrier-busting and pooling of community resources to address all the support needed to prevent retention problems

"We have had a lot of positive feedback from those who have made contact with the program. The consensus seems to be that by bringing TeamWork NorthWest in Crystal must care about them, which is true."
