Pollution Prevention and Energy Efficiency
The Pollution Prevention and Energy Efficiency Center (P2/E2 Center) is a Michigan entity formed in 2004 by Delta Institute of Chicago. Its purpose is to increase the implementation of pollution prevention and energy efficiency measures among business and industry, government, school districts, and institutions. P2/E2 provides technical assistance to help identify measures that reduce costs, save energy, and prevent pollution. They also provide financing to help implement those measures.
In 2005, Regional Planning and Community Development established a partnership with the P2/E2 Center—Delta Institute, and solicited member counties for participation in energy efficiency audits. Charlevoix County entered into a cooperative agreement with Delta Institute to perform an investment grade pollution prevention and energy efficiency audit at three Charlevoix County facilities. The P2/E2 audit provided useful information that will improve environmental performance and reduce operating costs.
