TeamWork NorthWest is based upon three models in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. One is Cascade Engineering, a company that has received national recognition for its retention program. A Retention Specialist works full time on site with both supervisors and employees, providing a proactive link for retention support. Of Cascade’s 700 employees, 100 are welfare-to-work individuals who are making a successful transition to a life of financial self-sufficiency.
Another model in the same city is called The Source. This is a group of nine companies in close physical proximity, which share a Retention Specialist. These companies work together to help at-risk employees retain their jobs, and even gain promotion from one company to a higher wage position in another company. The third model is similar, called OPEN, a consortium of five healthcare organizations.
