M-119 Corridor Community Preference Survey
The M-119 Tunnel of Trees Scenic Heritage Route Implementation Committee is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the scenic, cultural, natural, and historic characteristics of the M-119 corridor through Friendship, Readmond, Cross Village, and West Traverse Townships. The Committee mailed out 1,696 Surveys to obtain the opinions on how best to accomplish this goal from the residents of Friendship, Readmond, and Cross Village Townships. The Committee received 570 completed surveys for a 34% return rate. After the responses were compiled, the Committee mailed out the Community Preference Survey results back to the all the three township residents for their review. From the results of this Survey, the Committee will now be working on developing recommendations for the Heritage Route to take to the three Township governments.

NWMCOG staff members worked with a dedicated group of representatives from Cross Village, Friendship, and Readmond Townships and the Emmet County Lakeshore Association to develop the M-119 Heritage Route Management Plan. Work on the management plan began in June 2001. The Heritage Route Plan Committee met monthly to gather and review data and maps and to draft and finalize the management plan. The plan is available for download at left, as are maps of the area.
