Certificate in Computer Skills
from Northwestern Michigan College, Extended Educational Services

Complete a well-rounded collection of computer courses used in office settings and earn a Continuing Education Certificate in Computer Skills. The 75-hour program consists of eight short, concentrated core courses in the areas of word processing, spreadsheets, database or PowerPoint, file management, and the Internet, plus at least one elective and an integrative course. Students with a strong background may receive competency credit for up to two courses. Contact the Extended Educational Services office (231) 995-1700. Personal Finance Management Certificate
from KAL•TEC

This non-credit KAL•TEC certificate program, with classes offered by Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency and NMC, will help you learn how to manage your finances successfully. Certificate in Small Business Management
from Northwestern Michigan College, Extended Educational Services

This certificate program will help you gain the information and skills you will need to start and build your own business. Classes are offered through a partnership between NMC and the Small Business & Technology Development Center (SBTDC). They will help you decide whether owning a small business is feasible for you and will provide you with information about how to finance, market, and manage your business. A minimum of six classes and 40 contact hours are required to earn the certificate. Contact Extended Educational Services at (231) 995-1700 for a list of required classes. Skills for Success Certificate
from KAL•TEC

This non-credit KAL•TEC certificate program, with classes offered by MSU Extension, Catholic Human Services, Northwestern Michigan College, Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency, Village Chiropractic Wellness Center, and Northwest Michigan Works! will help you gain skills that lead to success at home and on the job. Completion of four classes from the following list are required to earn the certificate:

  • Making a YOU Turn - Strategies for Getting On Track
  • Leadership Skills for Today's Business
  • Anger Management Workshop
  • Stress Management Workshop
  • Conflict Resolution Workshop
  • Basic Problem Solving Workshop
  • Principles and Practice of Healthy Living
  • Career Assessment Individualized Meeting
  • One from this group: Basic Financial Planning, Budgeting, Credit & Credit Repair, and Staying Financially Fit
