Employer's Role

The employer’s commitment is of equal importance to the Retention Specialist’s role. The endorsement and leadership by the company CEO is of utmost importance, because direct supervisors need to know that the company is making a special effort to retain its workers. This commitment typically involves learning about the culture of poverty to better understand why people do, or don’t do, some of the things we think they should, providing a work site mentor, communicating regularly about the employee’s performance and any signs of problems, and more.

A TeamWork Job Retention program involves the following commitment by employers:
  • Job site mentoring for new employee

  • Build an understanding of the “culture of poverty” among coworkers & supervisors

  • Willingness to invest time & energy in the employee

  • Regular communication among the supervisor, employee, and Retention Specialist

  • CEO endorsement & leadership
