Information, Communication and Coordination

Communities in northern Michigan continue to grapple with growth and development issues. Regional Planning and Community Development develops tools that assist communities in local decision-making and offers technical assistance to local governments and non-profit agencies working on community planning and development issues.

• Planners Review and Advisory Committee (PRAC) PRAC is a committee of planners from the ten-county region which acts as an advisory body to the NWMCOG board.
• Solid Waste Advisory Committee SWAC is committee of stakeholders in the Solid Waste, Resource Recovery and/or Recycling staff from units of governments, solid waste council members, and interested parties.
• Economic Development Advisory Committee The Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) acts as an advisory board to Northwest Michigan Council of Governments. It is comprised of representatives from the public and private sector across the ten-county region.
• Statewide Council - Michigan Association of Regions Regional Planning and Community Development is a member of the Michigan Association of Regions.
