The Northwest Michigan Council of Governments, Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce, and Michigan Land Use Institute are pleased to announce the “Regional Economic Summit” on March 2, 2012. Michigan Governor Rick Snyder will discuss infrastructure and talent as means to building regional economies. The event will be hosted at the Northwest Michigan College’s Hagerty Center.
In addition to Governor Snyder’s keynote, the event will include organizational updates by the Traverse Bay Economic Development Corporation and the Northwest Michigan Council of Governments. In addition, there will two moderated discussions. The first, moderated by Hans Voss, Executive Director of the Michigan Land Use Institute, will feature Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Director Kirk Steudle. Mr. Steudle will provide comments and answer questions surrounding the region’s transportation infrastructure. The second discussion will include elected state representatives and senators from the Northwest Michigan region, and will be moderated by Doug DeYoung, Vice President of Government Relations & Business Advocacy at the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce. DeYoung will lead the group in a discussion about identifying and implementing the needed policies to further economic activity in the region.
