Basic Healthcare Bridge Program Intensive is a one-week class (32 hours) which provides orientation to the field and training; groundwork for success on the job; and covers specifics for success in long term care.

Topics for this interactive training include professionalism, resident's rights, ethical issues, self care, culture of aging, communication, teamwork, overview of body systems, medical abbreviations, working with families, dementia, elder abuse, nutrition, diversity and an Adult CPR and First Aid certification. There are tours of facilities and professional guest speakers.

This training is designed as a precurser to Certified Nurse Aide training, but can be completed as a stand alone course that prepares the student for work providing care for adults in a household or residential facility with activities of daily living and meeting other needs.

Eligibility requirements include attending a preliminary, mandatory workshop, interviewing to be selected for the program, TB test, and background check. Students may be able to get full scholarships depending upon eligibility requirements.
